Na Mo Chuid Aodaich – Stornoway June 2012

Crossroads Lewis are pleased to announce that Proiseact nan Ealan (PnE) are staging another Na Mo Chuid Aodaich event in the Stornoway Sports Centre on 22nd June 2010 at 7pm. PnE are asking for vintage clothes to use as part of the event, anyone willing to loan items for the evening please contact the Crossroads Lewis office for further information (705422). All are welcome to attend, fundraising from the event will be donated to Crossroads Lewis.

Robert Trust Anniversary Fund donation

Crossroads Lewis has received a £400 donation from the Robertson Trust Anniversary Fund via Crossroads Caring Scotland which is to be used for the benefit of carers in Lewis over the next year.

Crossroads Caring Scotland was one of only 15 organisations selected by the Trustees to receive a major grant from the fund.

ADMINISTRATOR VACANY

ADMINISTRATOR (15 HOURS) £7,800 p.a.

Crossroads Lewis is a well-established local charity which provides support at home to family carers and to people with disabilities of any age, including providing palliative care support. Each year we offer a service to around 100 households throughout Lewis. The service is ranked as excellent by the Care Inspectorate.

We are looking for an administrator to have lead responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the services provided by Crossroads Lewis.

Applicants should have proven background in office administration including competent IT skills. Experience of working in a social care setting would be an advantage.

This is highly rewarding work, and the successful applicant will demonstrate motivation, energy, a commitment to team work and maintaining the service to the highest standards.

Successful applicants would be subject to PVG checks.

MA hall lunch

A lunch was held by Crossroads Lewis in the M.A. hall in Stornoway on 10 March and raised nearly £1,200. Thank you to everyone who organised the lunch and helped out on the day, and also a big thank you to everyone who came and donated.

Lewis & Harris Sports Council donation

Thank you to the Lewis & Harris Sports Council for donating £700 to Crossroads Lewis from the proceeds of their annual Sports Quiz, which took place in March at the Stornoway Golf Club.

Crossroads (Lewis) appoint new Manager

Crossroads Lewis Care Attendant Scheme has appointed Nicky Cowsill as their new Manager.  Nicky, who has lived in Lionel for the last seven years, originally hails from Worcestershire.  The Crossroads scheme aims to relieve stress on the persons or families caring for all age groups of people with physical, mental or sensory impairment.  Crossroads Lewis is an independent registered charity which generates its own income to be spent for the benefit of the people of Lewis.

Nicky commented on the generosity of the Lewis community and how donations can be used to fund extra hours of practical help.  Pictured with Nicky is Donald McKee of Upper Coll handing over £100 he was given for cooking at a Burns Night and a further £60 for cooking at the Happy-Ness lunch club last week.

Emergency Services fundraising (update)

Crossroads (Lewis) would like to thank the Emergency Services and everyone who donated for their hard work and generosity in 2011, an amazing £12,273.26 was raised for Crossroads (Lewis). The Emergency Services Ball raised £5757.52 in addition to the total received from the other activities (football match, cycle from Barra to the Butt of Lewis, a barbeque and various other contributions) through Just Giving came to £6515.74.

All of the money raised will be used by Crossroads (Lewis) to provide more care within the Isle of Lewis.

Emergency Services fund raising

A big thank you must go to the Western Isles Emergency Services who have raised over £6,000 this year for Crossroads Lewis.  

The Emergency Services chose Crossroads Lewis as there nominated charity for 2011 and held a number of fund raising events. The events included: the Western Isles Charity Match 2011: Police v Fire Brigade, a 170 cycle across the Western Isles, a curry night and barbeque were held in aid of Crossroads Lewis.
