- Care Attendants are recruited through advertisement in the local press, followed by a selection and interview process, including 2 written references and PVGs.
- While present staff come from a variety of backgrounds many have had experience in nursing or care.
- All staff under-go induction training, followed by on-going training to meet identified needs and to be familiar with new legislation.
- All staff are required to follow Crossroads Lewis policies and codes and to work in accordance with the National Care Standards and the Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice.
- All staff are expected to work to a very high standard and exemplify the core values of the service.
- Ongoing supervision and annual appraisal enable staff to discuss their experience, needs and views.
- All staff are paid.
- Safeguards are in place to monitor how service users needs are being met and to deal with complaints.
- Crossroads Lewis values our staff of Care Attendants and their contribution to the community. We have a duty of care to them and have policies/guidelines in place to help safeguard their welfare, e.g., Severe Weather Policy.
